Flowdeck v2 failing calibration with CF 2.1

Post by dsdrew » Wed Apr 17, 2019 9:36 pm

Hiya-

My new CF2.1 is failing calibration when Flowdeckv2 is connected. Running most up-to-date firmware. No prior problems with this same Flowdeck and my old CF2.

edit: I ordered this Flowdeckv2 from your website in December 2018, so don't know if this is related to posts I see about first run having problems.

Console output WITH flowdeck:
---
SYS: Crazyflie 2.1 is up and running!
SYS: Build 30:76251a214d24 (2019.02 +30) CLEAN
SYS: I am 0x2033354E3948501300370023 and I have 1024KB of flash!
CFGBLK: v1, verification [OK]
DECK_CORE: 1 deck(s) found
DECK_CORE: Calling INIT on driver bcFlow2 for deck 0
ZR2: Z-down sensor [FAIL]
PMW: Motion chip id: 0x49:0xB6
IMU: BMI088 Gyro I2C connection [OK].
IMU: BMI088 Accel I2C connection [OK]
IMU: BMP388 I2C connection [OK]
ESTIMATOR: Using Kalman (2) estimator
CONTROLLER: Using PID (1) controller
EEPROM: I2C connection [FAIL].
DECK_CORE: Deck 0 test [FAIL].

Console output WITHOUT Flowdeck:

SYS: ----------------------------

IMU: BMI088 Accel I2C connection [OK]
IMU: BMP388 I2C connection [OK]
ESTIMATOR: Using Complementary (1) estimator
CONTROLLER: Using PID (1) controller
EEPROM: I2C connection [OK].

There is something wrong with the I2C buss, possibly caused by the z-ranger sensor or connection problem.

Code: Select all

ZR2: Z-down sensor [FAIL]
To rule out connection problem could you inspect the two I2C pins (SDA, SCL) in the connectors. If it is not connection problem we can fix we will arrange a replacement for you.

Deck still works 100% of the time with my CF2...

I2C connectors on the CF2.1 seem fine (i.e., with method from viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3218&p=15667#p15667 and microscope inspection), but I don't have another deck to test with.

Hmm, 100% with the CF2, that puzzles me... Then at least we can rule out a problem with the Flow deck v2.

The z-ranger needs VCC, GND, SCL, SDA from the CF2.1 deck connector. Do you have the possibility to check if these connects well? I kind of expect VCC and GND to work as the flow sensor initializes without problems.

Bit puzzled as I am now having issues with the deck on my CF2. Passes calibration, but during hover assist (either with controller or with cflib) it rapidly starts wobbling and crashes if not stopped. When I can get the CF2.1 to pass calibration with it (typically with some wiggling on the pins while seating), height estimate is bonkers. Both can fly fine with manual control even with the deck connected.

Would love a replacement deck.. but if you want me to keep messing with it I'll start by taking an iron and trying to replace the header blocks entirely :geek:
